Bergeries d'E Capannelle
Former ski station turned gite at 1586 m.

Former ski station turned gite at 1586 m. Small shop, bar, and a gentler start to the southern GR20. Good stop for a cold drink after the climb from Vizzavona.
The place
The climb out of Vizzavona ends at E Capannelle, a former ski station at 1,586 m where a couple of stubby lift pylons still stand around like guests who haven't realised the party moved on. The gîte that inherited the place has the cheerful, slightly improvised feel of all repurposed mountain buildings — long tables, a bar, a small shop — and a terrace that looks out over the forested Fium'Orbu valley.
This is your soft landing into the southern GR20, and morale is usually high: the second half has begun, the climb behind you was honest but civilised, and there's cold beer within arm's reach. Evenings can be surprisingly chilly at this height once the sun drops behind Monte Renoso, so dig out the down jacket before dinner rather than after. Fill up on water and good humour — the long balcony trail to Bocca di Verdi tomorrow is one of the south's easiest and most pleasant days.
